The Strokes are apparently getting along now — at least enough to begin planning for their next album. The group also announced they will be touring intensively in the fall following their many festival stops this summer.
    .
Bassist Nikolai Fraiture told Rolling Stone the group is planning “a very long tour this fall.” Albert Hammond Jr. added that the band plans to tour in the U.S. after their European jaunt, saying, “You’re wondering about America, as are we. It seems like something is lining itself up, but it’s hard to tell right now what exactly we’re going to do. We all want to do it, so we’re gonna find a way.”
    .
As for why they want to start working on a new disc so soon after releasing this year’s Angles? “We’re trying not to lose momentum by taking time off and then having to reboot the whole system,” Fraiture said. “Hopefully, we keep that up.”

According to a Billboard interview with Rick Rubin, Linkin Park are already headed back into the studio to work on the follow-up to 2010’s A Thousand Suns. When asked about the recording process, Rubin explained that Linkin Park is ahead of the game. “Typically we’ll have a once a week meeting to go listen to the songs that they’re coming up with and talk about them,” Rubin said. “For so early in the project, they are much further along than they have been on the last two albums we did. On A Thousand Suns there were still a lot of irons in the fire.”

50 Cent has announced he will pen a teen novel entitled Playground. The book, published by Penguin Young Reader Group and released in January of 2012, will address issues of teen bullying.
    .
According to the publisher, the novel will be written in the first-person and will revolve around a 13-year-old schoolyard bully “who finds redemption as he faces what he’s done.” 50 Cent said in the press release, “I had a strong desire to write Playground because I wanted to explore how a kid becomes a bully. I drew on events from my own childhood and adolescence, but was excited to see the story take on its own life. This book would have been very helpful for me growing up and now that I have a teenage son, it is my goal that this will have a positive influence on all teenagers.”

    .

Weird Al Yankovic- AlpocalypseYes, people: Weird Al is back. The King of Parody returns with his first disc in five years, and, per usual, he’s unloading his guns on today’s celebs. Be sure and listen to his Gaga parody “Perform This Way.”

    Jeff the Brotherhood-
We Are The Champions- This Nashville duo are brothers and also happen to be one helluva scuzzy garage-rock duo. They made a splash at this year’s SXSW, and now Jeff the Brotherhood drop their new full-length. Check it out. .
