'Duets' Recap: Final Four

.
Last night on ‘Duets,’ Robin Thicke’s partner Olivia Chisolm was sent packing, making her the fourth straight female to be ousted from the show while no men have yet met that fate. Joining Olivia in the bottom two was the only other female contestant – and arguably the one with the most talent – Bridget Carrington. I guess this is not a controversy, because ‘Duets’ is not a big hit, but it should be noted. So there it is. -
'Duets' Recap: And We're Live!

.
Last night, ‘Duets’ went live for the first time, taking the power out of the hands of the “superstars” and letting America decide which female contestant to send home! The show opened with the mentors singing George Michael’s “Freedom ’90” and Kelly Clarkson stole the show, as per usual. Kelly’s the best. Let’s just get that out of the way early. Onto the duets. -
'Duets' Recap: And Then There Were Five

Tonight on ‘Duets’ it’s movie songs and next week we go live. Let’s whittle it down to five, shall we!

Quddus intros the Jennifer and John Glossen package by claiming they won’t be playing it safe. I just keep repeating “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,’” “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,’” “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,” and of course, it was “My Heart Will Go On.” Jennifer and John are determined to win Robin over, the sole judge skeptical of John’s talent. They do. Everyone loved it. Here’s the thing, though John’s got a wonderful singing voice, but it’s “My Heart Will Go On,” the single most boring song one could possibly sing. Sorry, Grandmas. -
'Duets' Recap: A Second Contestant Is Sent Packing

Because of the NBA Finals airing on ABC tomorrow, ‘Duets’ bows a night early and the theme is PARTY SONGS!!! So, songs that would likely be played at a party. That’s what I’m going with. -
'Duets' Recap: Sending Somebody Home...Finally
by Pat Driscoll Jun 08, 2012 at 4:35 AM
ABC
.
And now ‘Duets’ finally has stakes. Yes, after two weeks of playing nice someone will finally be sent home as the bottom two will be forced to sing acapella for their lives and the judges/mentors will finally have to do some dirty work. I still have some reservations about the voting process, but at least the “superstars” will have lay it on the line and play the bad guy/girl and send the first poor soul packing. We’ve been playing nice for far too long and this feels like a long time coming. What will happen? Let’s find out.
.
Jennifer Nettles and John Legend open ‘Duets’ with a fine …well… duet, and they put everyone on notice, though I’m not sure that’s the point.
