Last time on ‘Awkward,’ Jenna’s mom finally came clean to her dad about the dreaded letter, and J had told… other J that she was his, and no longer in love with her previous beau (of whom Jake still doesn’t know the identity.) Fresh off the conflict, Jenna is part of a newsome twosome, and she’s ready to move forward. But things are getting complicated, as Matty can’t seem to handle his rejection and acts as a third wheel.

It’s bully awareness week, and Val’s comemorating her new position as Vice Principal by hosting bullying awareness week. And as she’s shakin’ her booty as part of the choreography club (seriously, girlfriend was really doing her best Beyonce in that skin-tight latex getup), her on again/off again item Ricky Schwartz was locking lips with another lady in the stand. Whoopsies.
    .
Jenna worries that she’s unintentially being too clingy with Jake in order to push Matty away? She’s in full-on saran wrap mode while trying to make sure Matty doesn’t get the wrong idea, but is it too much? Tamara keeps trying to convince her not to rub her new romance in Matty’s face, but he can’t help but rub his abs in her face.
    .
Meanwhile, Tamara is being “punished” for her bully-ish outburst at the assembly by recruiting people for a 5K, as Val can’t actually think to punish someone and hasn’t yet relinquished her “gal pal Val” status just yet. After a while, though, Tamara’s convinced that Matty’s trying to sabotage her relationship. And when he shows up in her hot tub, she’s pretty convinced.
    .
Back at home, it seems that things aren’t peachy in paradise, as Jenna’s dad has been working late and giving her the cold shoulder. He comes home from work through the back door, and upon noticing the new hot tub that mom had purchased, crashes J’s pool party of 3, before peeing in the pool to de-sexify the thing. “You might as well have bought our daughter a sex swing,” he says, after seeing his mom in a skimpy bikini of distraction. Burn.
    .
When Jenna witnesses Sadie taking Tamara to school on how to get the best of someone who’s rubbed her face in it, she has an epiphany. No more of this subtlty game. If Matty’s going to get the hint that things are D-O-N-E done, then she’s going to have to lay it on thick. We’re talking public make outs, finger-lickin’ fro-yo sharing (ew), and lap sitting. Lots of lap sitting. And while he finally gets the picture, Jake thinks that she’s giving Matty the cold-shoulder because she doesn’t like him. Oh, Matty, how out-of-the-loop you are.
    .
Unfortunately, Jenna’s dad is very much in the loop, and he’s ready to pack his things and stay with his parents for a few days because of his wife’s bullying letter to their daughter. And Jenna’s not having it. So as soon as he can say “I need space,” she’s hiding his suitcase and claiming that if she has to suffer, so does he. But things don’t always work out that easily, and he moves out. Perhaps for good.
    .
So Jenna comes clean with Matty, asking him to step back. But oh, J-town, things aren’t quite that simple. Is Matty acting afool over her because he’s trying to lure her in? The opposite, really. Jake wants him around, and he’s just trying to keep things normal. And if anyone’s the third wheel? It’s Jenna. Awkward!
    .
Except… as we learn during the bullying 5K, he really is playing saboteur. But only Sadie’s in the know on that one.
    .
Scandal! Until next time, Palos Hills High fans!
