Getty Images . The Amazing Spider-Man is in theaters right now, but did you know that The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson was once being considered for the role of our friendly neighborhood webslinger? The people at Vulture recently wrote a great piece about actors who almost starred in Spider-Man films, and buried deep in that article is a pretty cool secret that not a lot of people know about. Before Andrew Garfield won the role and before The Hunger Games became a massive worldwide sensation, Hutcherson got a few friends together and made an audition tape where he plays Spidey and uses his powers to battle some high school bullies. Pretty wild, huh? At MySpace HQ, we’re wondering if Hutch was able to get some help from his friends and do this for free, or if he had to rent out the space (and those barely-noticeable wires you see in some shots) in order to get this done. The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb eventually cast the much-older Garfield in the role, and it’s a good thing, too – because now Garfield is dating co-star Emma Stone in real life, and Hutcherson transitioned into the role of Peeta Mellark and became a new kind of iconic hero. The Amazing Spider-Man is in theaters now, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire arrives on November 22nd, 2013.
