We’re guessing you may have heard of U.K. singer Cher Lloyd, who finished fourth in the seventh season of The X Factor. But we want you to know more about Lloyd than just her reality show ranking, especially as she works on her second album, which is set for release sometime in the next year.

Lloyd, now 18 years old, was born in Malvern, Worcestershire in the U.K. She got her start by appearing The X Factor, but it was actually on her third round of audition attempts that she ended up getting cast. Lloyd caught the judges’ attention with her audition choice of Keri Hilson’s “Turn My Swag On” and eventually made it to No. 4 in the overall competition. Despite her final placement, Lloyd got to perform with will.i.am during the finale, offering a mash-up of “Where Is the Love?” and “I Gotta Feeling.”

After the show finished Simon Cowell signed Lloyd to his Syco Music label, which is part of Sony, in the U.K. The singer released her debut single, “Swagger Jagger,” in the summer of 2011 and the track peaked at No. 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart in August.

Lloyd followed that track with her second single, “With Ur Love,” featuring Mike Posner. Her debut album, Sticks + Stones, came out on November 7 and has sold over 200,000 copies in the U.K. where it peaked at No. 4.

In December 2011 Lloyd signed a record deal with Epic Records in the States and is expected to release her debut album in the here in late 2012. Meanwhile the singer is hard at work on her sophomore effort, which will come out at some point in late 2012 or early 2013. Her U.S. debut re-release includes a remix of “Want U Back” with Snoop Dogg. Lloyd recently told Perez Hilton of her new songs, “I wanted to get a little tiny bit more personal, but not too personal. Because I believe someone in my position should have things to themselves. You know and I don’t want to write about stuff that’s too out there. But I want it to be still young but maybe like a little bit mature, if you know what I mean.”
