Tonight on ‘Duets’ it’s movie songs and next week we go live. Let’s whittle it down to five, shall we!

Quddus intros the Jennifer and John Glossen package by claiming they won’t be playing it safe. I just keep repeating “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,’” “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,’” “please don’t be ‘My Heart Will Go On,” and of course, it was “My Heart Will Go On.” Jennifer and John are determined to win Robin over, the sole judge skeptical of John’s talent. They do. Everyone loved it. Here’s the thing, though John’s got a wonderful singing voice, but it’s “My Heart Will Go On,” the single most boring song one could possibly sing. Sorry, Grandmas.
Jordan Meredith brought her parents who were pretty adorable and very excited to meet Kelly Clarkson. They’re singing “Take My Breath Away” which is more like it. Jordan did a nice job until she blew a few notes at the end. I’d call Robin Thicke sexist for always wanting the female singers to be “sexy,” but that’s all he ever wants from anyone ever.
.
Just a note, I don’t like how everyone is forced to refer to the judges as “superstars.”

Robin and Olivia are singing “Stayin’ Alive” and it’s a rather obvious choice. As soon as I heard it was “movie week,” I knew someone would pick it and the easy money would have been on Robin. John Legend said he felt she put more power behind her voice, but I totally disagree. Olivia’s voice is so thin and I feel like I can barely hear her half the time. Her lack of charisma doesn’t help either.
.
Bridget Carrington is a real dark horse to win this thing. Her performances are always the most confident and last night’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It” was no different. I just believe Bridget and unlike Olivia and even John Glossen, she has charisma to spare and unlike J (no period) Rome she doesn’t have to try so hard. Jennifer Nettles said she forgot she was supposed to be judging and that’s the whole point. It just comes naturally to Bridget. She’s easily the most comfortable in her own shoes and in a perfect world she’d take it. She looks great. She sounds great. Bridget Carrington, America. Pay attention when you start voting.
.
Am I the only one getting sick of J (no period) Rome? It’s probably because I tend to always root for the underdog and J Rome has been number one every single week. Having said that, he’s a great singer and basically nailed “I Will Always Love You.” Like John Legend, I’ll just say “what am I gonna say.” It was great.

Jason Farol is singing a song from “Mulan.” Robin and Kelly speak about how once America starts voting, Jason will be a big threat. I couldn’t agree more. in fact, he’ll become a favorite. This could explain why the other judges put him in last place when he didn’t deserve to be, honestly. Kelly seemed legitimately shocked. Sabotage, y’all!
.
In any event, it’s Jordan vs. Jason. Kelly’s Kidz left to duke it out and Jordan was beaten rather soundly as she tried to take on “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” and she just didn’t have the voice for it. She was sad. Next week we’re live! Who will be the next woman voted off? Stay tuned!
