What a ride it’s been for Katy Perry since the singer released her 2010 mega-smash sophomore album, Teenage Dream. What’s happened to Perry in this time-span? Oh, just a slew of Number One singles, a whirlwind romance — and subsequent divorce — with actor Russell Brand, and an overall transition from up-and-coming pop singer to worldwide phenomenon. Now, to cap off this multi-year-ride, Perry has unveiled the final music video from her Teenage Dream era. Perry’s video for “Wide Awake,” the latest single off her Complete Confection re-release, premiered today. And like all things Perry, it’s gloriously over-the-top. Check it out below.

Perry has always been one to fully reveal herself to the public, and her video for “Wide Awake” is no different. It’s autobiographical in nature, starting at the end of her music video shoot for “California Gurlz” and ending as she walks onstage to perform her sophomore album’s title track. In between, we’re taken on a wild ride that includes medieval labyrinths stocked with temptingly evil fruits, an encounter with a young girl named Kathryn who helps Perry escape from minotaur-like guards, and an incredible ending in which Perry enters an exquisite rose garden and punches a would-be Prince Charming.

The video is a true spectacle, involving visual affects, high-tech graphics and a slew of nods to classic literary themes (temptation, redemption, etc.). But more than anything, it proves that Perry has not lost any of her creative juices, which is great news as we now look ahead to her third album. While we don’t know what to expect from Perry’s next full-length offering, we do know is that it’ll require some true pop-star magic to top Teenage Dream.
