by Trevor Kelley Aug 31, 2010 at 11:11 PM
.Okay, so it wasn’t exactly John, Paul, Ringo and George storming The Ed Sullivan Show. But, for Kansas on a scorching hot day at the end of the summer, it felt a little bit like Beatlemania, as Never Shout Never and The Ready Set played a long overdue MySpace Secret Show at the Bottleneck in Lawrence this past Tuesday.

New Around Here: Don't Wake Aislin
by Dan Hyman Aug 31, 2010 at 5:45 PM
Artist: Don’t Wake Aislin
Location: Dallas, TX
Chart Position: Don’t Wake Aislin are all over the unsigned rock charts—they currently sit at Number Seven on the unsigned alternative chart, Number Nine on the unsigned rock chart and Number 25 among all unsigned bands. They also have four songs in the Top 30 for all unsigned rock bands.
How It’s Moving: DWA’s slow-building flamenco-style rocker, “…How It Ends Is Up To You,” is one of the fastest moving unsigned rock songs, up 51% among all unsigned rock bands on MySpace.
They kind of sound like, you know: Paramore, with a touch of harmonic delicacy—courtesy of lead singer Deena Jakoub’s tender pipes.

Sid Wilson talks solo album, future of Slipknot
by Emily Zemler Aug 31, 2010 at 5:31 PM
Slipknot’s Sid Wilson is prepping to release his debut solo album. The DJ, known to Slipknot fans as #0, Ratboy, DJ Moonboots and DJ Starscream, told Billboard he has a solo disc recorded, and hopes to release it this fall. His label situation is still being finalized, but Wilson says he has the music ready to go.
“[It's] an eclectic mix of all the different styles of music I grew up listening to,” he said. “There’s a strong B-Boy influence in my music, ’cause I’m a DJ. I used to listen to a lot of Skinny Puppy and more mainstream things that came out of industrial, like Nine Inch Nails. I was always influenced by the Beastie Boys a lot and Run-DMC and the way they mixed their rock influences in their hip-hop stuff.”
