BioVolume was founded in the spring of 2001 by Jason VanHoose. The studio resided in a single family home in Humboldt Park that was also occupied by three roommates. Although this worked fine for the first year it became apparent that in order to continue the studio would have to move to a dedicated space. In the late winter of 2002 an oppurtunity to move into a new space arose. Jason partnered with Stan Wood and Sanford Parker and built Volume into what it is today in its Wicker Park location.
