  • Bio

Born a preacher's son in Washington, D.C., Tim Carmon grew up immersed in the church. Blessed with God-given ability and influenced by his mother and the sounds of gospel music that surrounded him, Tim began playing piano at the age of nine and by the age of 12 was serving as church organist for three different churches, including the one led by his father. .... Carmon's obvious talent was spotted by everyone within earshot and he soon became known for his musical versatility. This quickly placed him in high demand by artists in a variety of musical genres, where he has always made sure to make each artist feel like they were at their musical home when working with him. .... Feeling the need to spread his musical wings, he eventually found his home in Los Angeles after getting the call to do a record that led to many other musical opportunities, including writing and producing. .... The list of artists with whom Tim has performed, toured, written, or produced reads like a musical Whos Who: Eric Clapton, Babyface, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Queen Latifah, Marcus Miller, Sheryl Crow, Bob Dylan, Gladys Knight, B.B. King, Jamie Foxx, Earth Wind and Fire, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Michael McDonald, Mary J. Blige, David Sanborn, Shirley Ceaser, Yolanda Adams, Eric Benet, Mary Mary Lalah Hathaway and many, many more. As evidenced by the variety of styles and genres these artists represent, Tim's versatility and musicianship have led him to be in demand for projects in nearly every style of music imaginable. .... Carmon's schedule remains extremely busy. Most recently, he contributed arrangements and playing (piano and keys) for the major motion picture adaptation of Dreamgirls (with R&B producers, The Underdogs) and he is also lending his musical talents to the 50-year old revision of "Lady Sings the Blues", an autobiography of Billie Holiday which will include a compilation disc of artists singing some of Billie's classics. Tim's Phunky Boy Productions is currently working with a stable of artists on upcoming releases and projects for film and television. He has also been working on his debut as a solo recording artist with a soon to be released album project. ....
