  • Northeastern Tour With Myspace Friends!

    Current mood:excited

Feb. 12th, 2009 we took off on our first ever Northeastern tour!!! We had an absolute blast. We thought we'd take some time out to make a blog showing some of our SUPER MYSPACE FRIENDS we met along the way!

    Linda

We met our dear myspace friend Linda, our angel! She drove down over 2hrs to meet us and see our show at Cornerstone Coffeehouse (Millennium Music Conference 13 Showcase in Pennsylvania). Linda & her sister, Mary also stayed at the hotel room next to ours. Linda played a prank on us and we laughed so hard. We had so much fun with Linda! She kept us laughing! She's the best! We call her our angel because she is always leaving us the nicest comments and messages of encouragement. She even held a fund raiser supporting The Redheads!

    Mike

Our Myspace friend Mike had tickets to go see Willie Nelson the same night we played Cornerstone, so he went the extra mile and got us a gig at Cuppy's Coffeehouse so he could meet us! Mike and his precious wife, Kay greeted us with a large bag of the orginal chocolate kiss which are called Wilbur Buds! Those chocolates were so good - we'd have a handful every hour on the road! They also treated us to an incredible lunch. We can't thank them enough for their love, support and helping out us starving artists!

    John

John is a new myspace friend. He had just added us a few days earlier and came to see us at Cornerstone. Then he also journeyed out to see us again at Cuppy's! During the soundcheck we sang the song "It's a Heartache" just for fun and found out it was John's favorite song so we were honored to include it in our set and dedicate to him, our wonderful new friend! How sweet is that to come to two shows and John was so complimentary to us. He made our day!

    Matt

Then we traveled up to Connecticut and met our longtime myspace friend and street team leader, Matt. It was awesome! We met many wonderful people at the Walmart store Matt works at. Connecticut was full of love and laughter and very special memories. Since we are big huggers we hugged everybody! Then we went off to Matt's house and met his wonderful family and played a house concert. It was blast and a memory we will treasure forever!

Below are pictures with Matt and the other people we met at the Walmart store & also pics of Matt and his Family.

We finished up the tour at the prestigious Maxwell's NJ Songwriters Night in Hoboken, New Jersey. We performed with three other talented and famous songwriters. The event had a superb sound engineer and great acoustics in a venue full of serious listeners. When we performed it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop while we sang our songs. There were two rounds where each songwriter played two songs each and we were fortunate enough to get to close the evening with such an incredible audience. Maxwell's is so cool and we are honored to have joined such an impressive line up.

Then we drove back home 16 hours in our tiny Scion full to the max! We brought back memories we will always cherish and hold dear to our hearts! Thank you all for making this the most memorable road trip of all time for The Redheads!

  • Update On Abandoned Baby Kittens

    Current mood:grateful

Unfortunately, we have to start this blog off on a sad note... At 5 weeks and three days we lost Sable and Gigi to a horrible birth defect called FIP. It's a genetic mutation that shows up between 4 and 6 weeks. It's a very painful condition that has no cure. We thought Felix might have it also so he had to spend some time at the vets office for observation. It was really hard on us to lose the two sisters. We were devastated. They had brought us so much joy and love. However, we were so grateful they came into our lives and that we were able to provide a warm loving home in return. At the vets office we thought we were going to lose all three kitties so you can imagine the pain we were going through. Then 5 days later we got the call that Felix was doing well and tested negative for all feline diseases. So we rejoiced in Felix's homecoming! Felix is truly a miracle. He made it through even though he was born a full week premature! Felix is full of personality! He loves to clown around. However, since he was such a great big brother, Felix became VERY lonely without his sisters...

A couple of weeks went by and we decided to go to an animal shelter to adopt a new sister for Felix. We were very shocked to see how many animals were at the shelter. This economy has also taken it's toll on misplaced animals. We went to a kill shelter so these were last chance babies. We found a little sweetheart and Felix loves her. So we are back to being a very happy family as you can tell by the photos.

We named her Faye! So hopefully Faye and Felix will have many years together!

    Look how Felix has grown!

  • Halloween With Our Horses Through The Years!

Hi everyone! We thought we'd share a few photos of us having fun with our horses through the years. One year Brooke and her horse Phantom won first place in the Halloween contest at Western Bay Farms in Oldsmar, Florida where we used to board them. Phantom was dressed as Phantom of the Opera and Brooke carried around a cd player with the theme song playing.

The following year Britta and her first horse, Sheba, won second place in the contest as a ballerina.

  • Rescuing Abandoned Baby Kittens

    Current mood:smitten

    Day 1-

When we went to feed our horses in the morning, we heard little squeaks in the barn! We removed some of the slates we store the hay on and to our surprise... there were 3 little kittens! The orange one and the black one were huddled close together. But the calico was all alone (being the runt). We left them for a while to make sure their Mama wasn't coming back. Went to the feed store and got supplies just in case she'd left them (We thought it was odd she wasn't around). Five hours and several check ups later, they were still crying. We decided the little one looked too bad off and we had to do something. I (Britta) touched her first and she was so cold we knew we'd done the right thing. Brooke picked up the orange one and I (Britta) got the black one too. The little one was very smart and latched on the bottle first. The black kitty wouldn't latch on so we had to use a dropper. They slept for 4 hours then we fed again. And the cycle continued sleep 4 hours- feed- sleep 4 hours -feed! The orange tabby really liked his tummy rubbed. All 3 purred. We occasionally used a blow dryer on them to keep them warm and also bought a heating pad.

    Day 2-

Made it through the night! Switched feed to goats milk after the Vet recommended the change. The Vet told us they were premature kitties which is common in a feral cats first litter. Vet also said that if we couldn't get the black one to latch today she wouldn't make it. The little one was sneezing a little. Late afternoon we finally got the black one to latch on and we were so relieved. She'd been worrying us!!!

Below are some videos of the kitties!
    Day 3, Day 4, and Day 6!!!

    Day 3-

    Day 4-

    Day 6-

We named them the 3rd day!!!
    Orange one= Felix
    Black one= Sable
    Calico(runt)= Gigi

Sable seems to have accepted us as her Mama. She doesn't cry or look around for a Mama cat anymore. She's perfectly content with human hands holding her and loves the attention! The other two (Felix & Gigi) still search for Mama cat, but they do purr when we hold them. Felix opened his eyes first (on day 10), but the other two haven't yet. They're going to be a little behind schedule because they are premature.
