THE BOX FOX

In January of 09 the song “How Do You Like Me Now“ is what marked a new beginning for four friends. Up until now they had always been playing in different bands (20/20 VISION & SOFTDRINK), eventhough they’d known each other since day one. For Sascha, Rotscher, Tommy & Fafa moving to Berlin meant a total of three things: new band, new city and a brand new chance!

In April of 2009 THE BOX FOX first conquered a stage and with that initial trial they were set and ready for their very first tour with THE GOOD FICTION (USA). Energized by the tours success and all the positive feedback, they eagerly used the summer to gather even more material for their very first album, for the essential social-networking and for playing a wide range of festivals. The band was (and still is!) greatly encouraged and backed by a big circle of friends, supporters and hardcore fans within the local music scene. They had been talking to record labels for a time now. But at some point the boys’ acute lack of any business skills whatsoever had to move out of the way for a gut instinct that had been growing louder and louder over time: A plan was set up for early November that couldn’t possibly be anymore unrealistic or charming. In less than two months the release of the bands debut EP was made into reality - producing single handedly, without money, without a label and without a recording studio. In a very straightforward, honest and organic process a total of five songs was captured in the bands very own rehearsal studio. The project was supported by a team of old companions and newly found friends, whom the band trusts blindly in respect of sound and graphics. With producer Nils Ruzicka - who was in charge of recording - leading the way, Jason Nye helped with the overall work on lyrics and vocal performance. And having had Philipp Hoppen (Die Ärzte, Beatsteaks, Turbostaat, etc.) mix the record was just icing on the cake! Finally Michael Breuninger (splitted.de) contributed design and artwork and the fitting photos were chipped in by Daniel Kokavecz (dailyhero.de). Team and band consistently pushed one another until the very last minute. And with that they were indeed able to accomplish the practically almost unaccomplishable: on 12.20.2009 the bands self titled EP is released just as planned! In spring the band will officially release their EP online and simultaneously go on tour with GOOD FICTION from Los Angeles. We’re curious and anxious to witness what THE BOX FOX will achieve with their passion, their persistence and their unshakable confidence and self reliance in what they love and do best: MUSIC. So watch out and be prepared!!
