JUST RELEASED ON OFF THE HIP!! "THE SHINDIGGERS-MAXIMUM BEAT": 2 CD COMPILATION INCLUDING 51 TRACKS REMASTERED FROM ORIGINAL SOURCE TAPES, SOME ON CD FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME. ALSO A 16 PAGE FULL COLOUR BOOKLET WITH GREAT PIX AND WORDS BY BILL LEGGETT. ORDER YOUR COPY NOW FROM www.offthehip.com.au .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .......... .......... .. .. .. .. .. Formed from an add that guitarist, twangmeister, Peter "Fretso" Andrews placed at legendary music shop, Missing Link, in Melbourne, back in mid 1983, the mayhem commenced.... Peter was a member of the Corpse Grinders until he was booted out for using up too much grease on his hair but then moved to a surfin instrumental outfit The Twangin Heartthrobs. It was at one of their shows that Steve, the bass player, first witnessed the Pete "hump your guitar method of keeping in time." He was subsequently ill (from a few 100 lagers) but this trademark twanger left an imprint on his all but burnt out mind. It was during a trawl through records at the Missing Link store that Steve spotted the add and unbeknowns to him, rang Pete to inquire about a "Beat, Surf, Rock n Roll Band" band that he wanted to get happening. Enter the scene, Bill Sex..... A great mate of Steve's, and a complete nutter on the football field (Aussie Rules and Soccer), this young man was looking for a way to release energy into rock n roll. On finding the ad, Steve rang Bill, then rang Pete, then rang Bill , then rang Pete, then rang himself out of total confusion.....A date was set to get the shit together....And ye gads, it was set. Slabs of Beer ordered and fave rockin records in hand. The original drummer in mind decided to bail out after one rehearsal, that was when Pete tapped his bonged out brother on the head and said, "Give me the remote, and you're now hired" Spud, as he was to become known, was now on board.....The line up was complete. Bill Sex, vocals, screams, thuggery, Peter (It was in tune when I bought it!!)Andrews, Twang guitar , Steve Agar, Bass, Screams, Beer riders and Spud Wildman on drums.....1, 2, 3 4 ....enjoy The Shindigger experience....make it so!!!! But wait there's more as they say in the classics....In the mid 90's, the lads decided to bury the hatchet and get back together to keep the beat a happening, unfortunately, Spud Wildman had decided a career in time and relative dimensions in space was a more worthy pursuit. Hence the remaining 'diggers got an old mate , Rod "The Boss" McMurrich former Gas Babie and LSD skinsman to add his frenzied beats to the 'diggers sound. They are still active and could be in your neighbourhood soon....Lock up your Beer Fridges!!! .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ................................ -

Hi the shindiggers ... Thanks for the ADD! ... Resistance is Futile Earthling!!!
After a long journey from out home planet in the distant Omega Centauri Galaxy, The Del Sonics have arrived on Planet Earth to embark on our "World Domination Imminent" tour! Commencing in Brisbane, Australia, the run of dates will continue until total global power is achieved.
The latest and most potent weapon in ouir arsenal is the new album release “Destination...Planet Rock!”. Eight rolled-gold total psych-out cuts, recorded in May 2009, showcase the cream of this intergalactic instro/prog/surf outfit.
Don’t be fooled by the wiggy song names – “(No One Likes A) Smart Arsed Robot”, “Funky Chikisho”, and the epic acid-trip of “Speak Cyborg…Or DIE!” – these are killer rock and roll tracks delivered by a band that’s been a sensation on the live circuit the past year.
The engine-room rhythm section of The Big Kahuna (bass) and Krank Daddy (drums) powers like the Starship Enterprise on steroids. Out the front directing traffic on Fender Mustang (and with NASA-grade guitar pedal technology at his feet) is Twang, the one-man tsunami!
Sounds like… hmmmm...The Ramones and The Ventures hanging out at Frank Zappa's beach house with John Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix and The Monkees. Later, Ritchie Blackmore and The Ronettes will drop in for fondue and bikini Twister!
It's surf music, Jim, but not as we know it........
