I somehow managed to attract a bad luck charm that was been following me around like a bad smell. Pi-ew! (..it wasnt me..) It actually got to the point where at LEAST one bad thing would happen EVERY DAY:
Monday: I parked outside the restricted parking time and got at ticket.
Tuesday: I get another parking ticket THROUGH THE POST for the SAME time period... dont forget, wrongly issued.
Wednesday: My car got broken into, Sat Nav stolen
Thursday: A taxi plunges into the side of my car an breaks off the wing mirror
Friday: Betrayed by a 'friend'
By Sunday, I've stopped setting foot outdoors.
I would say this was just the tip of the iceberg, but you cant underestimate that - look what happened to the Titanic :(
This is why I say I was gripped by the devil's claw - and I'm not talking about the devil's claw plant! No. In all the blessings that are happening to me, he's definitely been on the attack. Hurling firey forces like Street Fighter. In this respect, I have been experiencing an intense period of adversity. Those were just small examples of the ill situ, but thats not the point... it was coming at me DAILY for at least 3 weeks.
So after a while, I just start to roll with the punches. Water off a duck's back so I said this to the devil: Quack quack! Funny enough, it worked for a while, but I think that had more to do with me praying frantically!! Plus I don't like to dwell on the negative. Well, only til its off my chest.
On the other hand, I have been given so many blessings: Like the opportunity to have my CD distributed at the British Independent Film Awards!!
Thank you to Bolongaro Trevor darlings for dressing me!
I endured a lot of stress and illness while trying to get it done so seeing the new EP 'Silence' done is a blessing and proud moment. Here's the cover:
The Goody Bags...
The Free bar... made of ice!
Gotta give a big shout out to Joe (who is now officially MY engineer) and Alex who came through like Superman!
Got a call last week from Afronaught (Bugz In The Attic - the band I sing lead for) to say we had a cool lil London shindig! A lit disco dancefloor, free cocktails, heavy projection display, and everyone had to go to the HAT room and pick up a hat to wear... (?!?!?!?) which was fun...
The show-crashing drag queens!!
I have some more shows coming up (next one is this Wednesday @ Hidden Julep, London Bridge www.myspace.com/sewuese for more) and it feels good just to have my songs heard and to connect with people of all types. I have a growing group of supporters that really believe in me at a time where I truly need it most. So thanks. And shout out to those who havent heard back from me... what can I say?! I'm sorry but I have been busier than busy... fighting many battles... I'll be back soon.
Bottom line is, I'm still alive. And writing this blog helps me realise just HOW alive I am.
Recently I have been shown the kindness of angels through my friends - REAL friends.... I don't know what to say but you have all been amazing and I thank you SO much. All the forward emails entitled "...if I get this back, I'll become a fairy and be rich forever" or the like that I never sent back, and you still didn't hold it against me! I love you.
So with that kind of support, I say devil, do your worst. Cos in my battles, I'm learning what it feels like to be invincible! As for the (tug of) war... ANGELS WIN!
PS: Thought this post was long enough, but I couldnt resist!!! Had to post this - one of my favourite songs and vids! MMM: Eurythmics ;D
