.. .. Self Expression Music found its heartbeat in SLC, UT in 2001. Started by LAM and Jef Doogie, they formed the group Expression, a group that was focused on positive message, when the masses were afraid to have one. Expression was the base and the backbone that not only was the voice of SEM, but what has become the voice of Salt Lake City hip-hop! In Salt Lake City’s local publication The City Weekly, SEM was voted by the public and given the Slammy Award as the 1 hip-hop acts in Salt Lake City. SEM has memorized crowds from the size of 10 to 10,000 with their heart pounding shows. Filled with not only backpacking, underground hip-hop heads and b-boys & girls, but also has artists from all demographics of music which they have also been blessed with the opportunity to work with.

Since 2001 SEM has created such a name for themselves, that they where invited on the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Vans Warp Tour. Performing along side major acts such as RA Da Rugged man, Pigeon John, Acrobatic, Bubba Sparxx, Method Man, Jedi Mind Trick, Uncle Howie Records, Ying yang twins, Public enemy, Swollen Members just to name a few. Creating themselves career opportunities, and relationship, helping them to establish the credibility to record and work in the studio along side these major acts.

SEM takes pride knowing they can sell thousands of albums out the trunk of a car doing there best to promote positivity rather than selling millions promoting negativity. Over the years SEM has grown from just Expression to a family of artist who all has their own self expression, but all have the same dream and focus. It not just the thousands of CD’s that have gain SEM their following, or their awe-inspiring way of making you here there message. It also their astounding stage performance that has their fans crowding around stages to hear them. There crowd control is effortless when performing, keeping listeners on there feet and feeling the emotions of the show.

There are only three letters that have to be spoken threw any venues sound system and the crowd erupts into a panic S-E-M. SEM has a list of artists that are veterans of the stage, and up and coming artists that are the future of the music industry.

SEM is an independent record company and business, creating every album out of their own studio. They have full promotion and marketing availability, with internal graphics design and street teams. Their goal is to reach millions through their music and their message. SEM is not just music it’s a way of life!
