Bio:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The band Oryzon was formed towards the end of 2005, the brainchild of Luca Dallù and Lorenzo Basaglia, classmates from early childhood. Lorenzo suggested to his cousin Federico Minini that he join the band as bass player and singer. He met the drummer Giacomo Carlone through a mutual high school friend. Oryzon immediately embarked on what was to be a long, almost interminable and confusing process of discovering who they were. The name of the group was to change many times, as was its musical style and image. Right from the start the group composed a lot of its own numbers, many of which never saw the light of day. The main activities of the band in the first three years were practising together, spending time the recording studio and a few sporadic live appearances in a couple of contests for emerging bands. During one of these evenings the boys met Ettore Gilardoni, a young producer from Milan who helped them in the early years. The group's early musical influences were very mixed. The two guitarists Luca and Lorenzo grew up listening to hard rock and 'virtuoso' performers, from Metallica to Rage Against The Machine. Giacomo lived mainly in the world of prog and funky, but had a vast knowledge of musical genres inherited from his musician father. Finally, Federico, the band's main composer, listened to much softer and more melodic music such as U2, Sting etc. Obviously as a result Oryzon's first songs had prog developments, Bono style melodies and endless solos. After the first two years of unconvincing experimentation, common influences began to emerge in the group, their ideas began to fuse together and the group began to be a group. The influence of British groups such as Muse and Radiohead were highly significant; they were the main bands to open the minds of the four young musicians. This was how the real Oryzon began to be what it is today. The solos have disappeared, the sound has become compact and powerful, and rich in its range of colours and sound experiments. Federico's melodies have begun to have their rightful place in the songs, and everything has begun to work. The research into sounds and instruments has become almost obsessive, and so has the singer's incurable desire for perfection. The group began to improve exponentially. Oryzon represented the Lombardy region in the national finals of Rock Targato Italy in September 2008. They received numerous comments on their originality and sound, which has an increasingly 'different' impact from the other bands with whom they share the stage. Of major importance for the group is its producer Mauro Tondini, who has been working with Oryzon since 2008 and has helped the boys in their development as both people and musicians. In fact, it was in his studio, the Boom Box Studio in Milan, that the band's first important numbers were created. In February 2010 Oryzon played at Milano Brucia, an event organized by the Ministri, one of the most important rock bands on the Italian music scene. It was a particularly important evening for the band: they received numerous positive comments and met many people who gave them advice and encouragement. In April 2010 the band began recording its first official EP: The Worst Enemy EP. It was recorded in Milan, partly in the band's rehearsal room and partly at Mauro Tondini's Boom Box Studio. The EP, sung entirely in English, represents years of research and is meant to function as the band's calling card. The EP involved important professionals such as Enrico La Falce and Sergio Bianchi. Once the recording was complete, on 27 September 2010, Federico moved temporarily to London, leaving the work of mixing and mastering the EP in the capable hands Sergio Bianchi and Mauro Tondini Since the disc is completely in English, the young singer felt that a few months in England would be fundamentally important in gaining a better knowledge and pronunciation of the language. On 25 November 2010 the album The Worst Enemy EP was presented on-line. The group will soon be back together to get underway a promotional tour of the disc.
