[ITA] Nicola Manzan nasce a Treviso nel 1976 e si diploma in violino nel 1997. Collabora da anni con molti gruppi e solisti italiani sia dal vivo che in studio. Nel 2005 decide di fare una raccolta di pezzi ispirati alla città di Bologna e ai film poliziotteschi degli anni '70, dando vita al progetto solista BOLOGNA VIOLENTA. Il risultato è un cdr autoprodotto composto da 26 tracce da 26 secondi di electro-grindcore strumentale, uscito nel 2006 e distribuito in tutto il mondo tramite il circuito DIY. Il 7 Gennaio 2011 è uscita la ristampa in vinile del primo omonimo album grazie a Grind Block Records, Hypershape Records e Destrozado Records. Un 12" one side in tiratura limitata di 500 copie (di cui 200 trasparenti). Nel 2010 esce per l'etichetta Bar La Muerte il secondo album intitolato "IL NUOVISSIMO MONDO – Dramma in XXIII atti sulla sorte del mondo e sul declino del genere umano", che vuole essere un omaggio ai film-documentario degli anni '60 e a tutte le loro derivazioni. Come succedeva in quei film, l'ascoltatore viene accompagnato in un ipotetico viaggio tra culture diverse e tematiche più o meno scabrose, talvolta sottolineate da commenti e dialoghi che conservano la cinica ironia tipica di questo modo di fare cinema. L'olocausto sonoro che contraddistingue i lavori di BOLOGNA VIOLENTA si placa soltanto nell'interpretazione di "Blue Song" (colonna sonora di "Milano Trema" dei fratelli De Angelis) in cui l'orchestra d'archi crea suggestioni romantiche che accarezzano l'orecchio dell'ascoltatore, un breve riposo durante il drammatico viaggio che lo porterà a scoprire che la razza umana è forse destinata a soccombere. Dalla festa collettiva alla morte, il passo è breve. Il concerto si sviluppa tra i temi cari ai poliziotteschi, agli horror anni '80 e ai mondo-movie. As in those films, the listener is accompanied in a hypothetical journey among different cultures and more or less scabrous themes, at times underlined by comments and dialogues that maintain the cynical irony typical of this way of making cinema. The sound holocaust that characterises the works of BOLOGNA VIOLENTA is appeased only in the interpretation of "Blue Song" (the soundtrack of "Milano Trema" written by the De Angelis brothers), where the string orchestra creates romantic suggestions that stroke the listener's ear, a short rest during the dramatic journey that will lead him to discover that the human race may be doomed to succumb. Only a short step separates the collective feast from death. Nicola Manzan is one of the "hottest" names of today's Italian music scene. He is a very requested violinist and poly-instrumentalist at all levels: from Baustelle to Teatro degli Orrori, from Ronin to Offlaga Disco Pax, from Alessandro Grazian. On this occasion he amazes the listener with the one-man band one doesn't expect: drum machine, guitar and violin at a thousand miles an hour in a vortex between grindcore and breakcore, with an extreme and actual style in the music and a "dated" style in the aesthetics, drawing on b-movies and police films. This figure that flirts with high and glamorous society, but has a shameless avant-punk attitude, is already on everybody's lips and we suspect it is only the beginning.
