Über 76.600 Klicks (ohne Fakes wie Robots etc.) in 3 Jahren und 6 Monaten Myspace-Präsenz und Zugriffe aus über 110 Ländern sind sehr v i e l mehr als ich erwarten durfte. Hoffentlich hält das Interesse weiterhin so an; z.Z. arbeite ich an mehreren Stücken, die wieder überraschen dürften (Flamenco, Rock, Latin).................................................. Thanx to all website-visitors! More than 76.600 clicks (without any fakes like Robots etc ) in 3 years and 6 month of my-space-presence and accesses from more than 110 countries... that is MUCH more than I could expect. It would be so great if the interest continued to be so big, especially as I am working on some pieces of music that might surprise (flamenco, rock, Latin).................................

Irgendwo muss es ja hin: Hier ein paar Kommentare zu meinen Titeln. Es versteht sich wohl von selbst, dass mit Fertigstellung auf CD in die Titel noch kleine aber feine Detailänderungen einfliessen werden. Schließlich soll hier noch nicht alles verraten werden. Bis jetzt könnt ihr/ können Sie folgende eigene Kompositionen und zwei Bearbeitungen bekannter Jazzstücke hören:(zur leichteren Auswahl steht in Klammern immer ein Versuch, den Titel einzuordnen)
1.CHICKS RHUMBA (Jazz mit ein wenig Funkrock und Flamenco-Feeling):
Vom Chick Corea Album "My spanish heart" angeregt, wollte ich mit einem bekannteren der dortigen Stücke (Armandos Rhumba) eine Synthese der Elemente des Albums erreichen; nämlich akustische Teile einem bombastischen Synthie-lastigen Fusion-Teil gegenüber zu stellen. (p: A.Girod, dr/cajon: M.Pollok, b+g: M.Stein, add.-g: K.Macpolowski -nur im ersten Soloteil,Arr.+Progr.: M.Stein), das Mastering wird mit Fertigstellung der CD erfolgen...
2. LULLABY (Filmmusik/Klassik, Ballade):
Für die Erstbesetzung von „Cento“ (2 Gitarren, 1 Klavier) von mir komponiert, hier etwas verändert. Zwar noch nicht abschliessend gemastert,aber dafür aktuell (25.01.2010) die Cello-stimmen von „echten Streichern“ eingespielt (vorher: East-West-Samples)- eine Ballade: einfach zurücklehnen und träumen... Auf jeden Fall die zweite Hälfte geniessen!!! cello:H. Möller, dr: M. Pollok, g: M.Stein; comp.,progr.: M.Stein
3.ROCKHOUSE OF CRAZY DOORS(Prog-Rock mit Electroelementen):
Ein wirklich abgedrehtes Stück Musik. Trotzdem so groovig und abwechslungsreich, dass die knapp 8 Minuten schnell vorüber sind. Bei der Arbeit an „House of crazy doors“ waren einfach so viele interessante Improvisationen entstanden, dass meine Freunde mir zurieten, einen Teil davon zu veröffentlichen. Mittlerweile hat sich dies verselbständigt; es ist quasi eine Hommage an King Crimson feat. Al di Meola auf den Weg gebracht, ergänzt mit Stilmitteln der Electromusik (Sidechain-Kompression etc.).( dr: M.Pollok, b+g: M.Stein, dr-progr.:F.Richter, Composition,Arr.+Progr.: M.Stein) Der Rest des Stückes ist als Jam-Session angelegt; also Freunde der langen Gitarrenimprovisationen, das soll absichtlich mit einer dezenten Verbeugung an Robert Fripp und an Frank Zappa erinnern - bei letzterem: ihr wisst schon, das tolle Instrumental auf der Zoot allures... Wie bei den anderen Stücken auch: auf der CD gibt..s natürlich noch ein paar Änderungen, damit es dort richtig cool klingt.
4. FIFTH TAKE (is) IMPOSSIBLE (Rockjazz mit Funkanklängen):
Eine Melange aus Take 5 (comp.P.Desmond) und Mission impossible (comp.L.Schifrin).(dr: F.Richter, sax,b-cl: J.Plato, tb:S.Weber, voc+synthieprogr.: S.Schlatow, g+b: M.Stein, add.-b: K. Macpolowski -nur im "Refr.", Arr.+ add. Progr.: M.Stein/F.Richter) Dadurch, dass ich versucht habe, das Ganze quasi in Songform zu trimmen, ist es wohl eher der Versuch geworden, Jazzstandards in den Kontext von Rockmusik zu bringen (sonst ist es ja meistens andersrum...)
5. "DEDICATIONS":
Experimentell nicht nur wegen vieler Taktwechsel und Taktüberlagerungen, aber im Mittelteil richtig groovig und Camel und Genesis-Freunde werden die Widmung erkennen.Initialzündung war der Track "Sound chaser" vom Album "Relayer" der Gruppe "Yes"; davon bin ich aber wieder etwas weggerückt, nur die vocals sind eine kleine Widmung an die große Band.-Danke an Alex G. und Martin P. für ihre Inspirationen. Besonderer Dank an Sam Schlatow für seine originellen Gesangs- und Synthesizer-Ideen, (Und ich wünsche seinem Electro-Projekt "Umami" nicht nur mit dem Nicone- Remix sondern erst recht mit "I come to you" und "All what you get from..." den großen Durchbruch...)
6. SALSO PORTALE (Ethnomusik/Klassik mit Raggaeanteilen):
eine Eigenkomposition aus 2 relativ unabhängigen großen Teilen. Der erste ist orientalisch inspiriert mit vielen Taktwechseln und ungewöhnlichen harmonischen Kopplungen, aber in Songform; der zweite Teil besteht aus einer konstanten Harmoniefolge mit kaleidoskopartiger Reihung melodischer Ideen. Nun fehlt nur noch der Fein-Mix. Trotzdem macht das Stück hoffentlich schon jetzt Spass beim Hören! ( dr: M.Pollok, b+g: M.Stein, cello: Hartmut Möller ,voc: S.Schlatow,add.-g: K.Macpolowski, b-cl:J.Plato, Composition,Arr.+Progr.: M.Stein, dr-progr: F.Richter), das Mastering folgt später. Dank dem Cellisten, der sich in äußerst anstrengenden, weil sehr hohen Lagen "quälen" musste!!!
7.DIENSTWAGEN IN DÈNIA (Chill-Musik):
keine Dienstwagen-Affäre, eher die einer von Chill-out-Klängen mit Electro- und Flamenco-Elementen, eine Fusion verschiedener Stilistiken. Völlig anders als alle anderen Tracks hier; einfach wie Sommerstimmung: den Takt aufnehmen und Leichtigkeit geniessen. Zum Schluss gibt..s etwas Jazzklang in den Bacardicocktail..(Composition: R.Franke/M.Stein, g: M.Stein, Arrang: Stein/Franke)

8.HOUSE OF CRAZY DOORS (Electro/Filmmusik mit experimentellen Ankängen):
eine Auseinandersetzung zwischen Electro- und Acoustic- Musik. Klar, dass es da keine eindeutigen Sieger gibt. Im Schlussteil werden über den Sommer die Synthies durch Celli-Einspielungen ergänzt... ( dr: M.Pollok, b+g: M.Stein,dr.-progr.: F. Richter, Composition,Arr.+Progr.: M.Stein)
9. SHORT TURBULENCE-long version-(Jazz/Worldmusic): Klingt paradox, so hört sich es auch! Feinheiten im Mix sind noch zu korrigieren-aber die Reise in Miniwelten, nun - wer sich darauf einlässt, fällt quasi gefühlsmässig in den Aufzugsschacht, um weich zu landen. ( g: M.Stein,acc: F.Richter, Cajon: M.Pollok;Arr.+Progr.: M.Stein) Ein wenig habe ich dabei an Joe Pass gedacht, jedoch immer mit respektvollem Lächeln!...

Und abermals: Alle Titel müssen noch gemastert werden, d.h. es mangelt noch an Lautstärke und Stereopräsenz.
10. EXCERPTS FROM WORK ON "LAGRIMAS"
Wie der Titel schon sagt, es handelt sich lediglich um einen Auszug aus dem in Arbeit befindlichen Stück. Es basiert auf einem lateinamerikanischen Folksong und braucht noch mehr Gitarren, Vocals und echtes Schlagzeug, aber immerhin ist schon erkennbar wie ich dieses Mal mit Audiomaterial umgehe.
In einem 1/4 Jahr werden beide Stücken komplett sein.
-Ansonsten: Gitarre lernen in Rostock über das Musikatelier in cooler Atmosphäre mit Niveau zu preiswerten Konditionen.----------
---Übrigens: oft werde ich auf der Strasse für Herbert Grönemeyer gehalten- jedoch spätestens mit Blick aufs Konto ist klar: ich bin ich. Und: meine Musik ist ganz anders! Auch wenn ich seine Verdienste um Popmusik in deutscher Sprache zu schätzen weiß ebenso wie die von Konstantin Wecker, Reinhard Mey, Marius Müller Westernhagen, Franz Josef Degenhardt, Udo Lindenberg, Stern-Combo-Meissen, Heinz Rudolf Kunze, Lift, Herman van Veen, Andrè Heller u.a.------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like : .........’needs to be placed somewhere’… So well, here there are some comments on my titles. Logically while working on the production of the CD there will occur one or the other little but important change of details. But I’m not going to give away all news :o). Up to now you can listen to some compositions of our own and two adaptions of well known jazz songs. (To make choosing easier you’ll find a try to arrange the pieces according to categories)

1.CHICKS RHUMBA (jazz with a little funk rock and some rhumba feeling): Inspired by the Chick Corea album ‘My Spanish heart’ I wanted to create a synthesis of the elements of this album (make the acoustic parts face a great synthie-dominated -fusion-part) in one of the better known titles from this album (Armandos Rhumba)
2. LULLABY: ( Film music, classical, ballad) Originally composed for the first line up of Cento (two guitars, a piano) by myself, now a bit altered. Not yet finally mixed. The celli are be played in by a real string players (before: east-west-samples) Nevertheless a ballad: simply lean back and dream. And don’t miss to enjoy the second half. cello:H. Möller, dr: M. 3. ROCKHOUSE OF CRAZY DOORS ( prog-rock with electronic instruments): A really crazy piece of music. But groovy and full of changes so that the 8 minutes of listening will have passed by pretty soon. Under the working period on that title such a lot of variations developed that my friend recommended to publish some of them. meanwhile the project is going its own ways, somehow a hommage to King Crimson feat. Al di Meola has been brought onto its way – completed with stylistic means of electro music (sidechain compression etc; dr: M. Pollock, b+g: M. Stein, dr-progr: F. Richter, comp, arr,+prog: M. Stein) The rest of the title is meant to be a jam session. Well, friends of guitar improvisation: it intentionally reminds, with a decent bow, of Robert Fripp and Frank Zappa. Concerning the latter: you remember, the cool instrumental on Zoot allures…. As for all the other titles: on the CD the will be some changes to make it sound really cool.
4.FIFTH TAKE(IS) IMPOSSIBLE (rock jazz with some sounds of funk): A mix of Take 5 (comp P. Desmond) and Mission Impossible (comp L. Schifrin) (dr: F. Richter, sax, b-cl:J. Plato, tb: S. Weber, voc+synthie prog: S. Schlatow, g+b: M. Stein, add-b: K. Macpolowski (only refr), add prog: M.Stein, F. Richter) As I tried to out the whole into the form of a song it now rather sounds like jazzstandards on the context of rock music (usually it is the other way round)
5. "DEDICATIONS":Here I made a new idea to create experimental music, a fusion of natural and synthetic sounds, come true. Friends of the music from Camel and Genesis know, what the title means.The initial point came from the band "Yes", their track "Sound chaser" from the album "Relayer". But I choosed another way, only the vocals are a little dedication to this Band.-Thx to Alex G. and Martin P. for their inspirations! I hope, you..ll like the changes and the 7/8 measures...
6.SALSO PORTALE (ethno/ classical with a share of reggae): An own composition consisting of two relatively long parts. The first one is inspired by music from the Middle East, containing a lot of measure changes and unusually harmonic combinations in the form of a song. The second part consists of a constant melodic sequence being a caleidoscopic chain of melodic ideas. Thanks to the cellist who had to torment himself with really exhausting, high tones. (dr:M. Pollock, b+g: M. Stein, cello: Hartmut Möller, voc: S. Schlatow, add-g: K. Macpolowski, b-cl: J. Plato, comp, arr, prog: M. Stein, dr-prog: F. Richter) The mastering is still to come.
7.DIENSTWAGEN IN DÈNIA (Chill music): No official car matter, rather the one of chill out sounds with electro- and flamenco elements, a fusion of different styles. Completely different from all the other tracks here, simply feeling like summer: get the tact and enjoy the ease. And finally there are some jazzy sound for your Barcadi cocktail. (comp: R.Franke, M. Stein, g: M. Stein, arr: Stein, Franke)
8. HOUSE OF CRAZY DOORS (electro, film music sounding a bit experimental) Clashing electro and acoustic music. It’s for sure that there can’t be a convincing winner. In the final part the synthies were replaced by celli in summer 2009. (dr: M. Pollock, b+g: M. Stein, dr-prog: F. Richter, comp, arr, prog: M. Stein) And once again: all titles still need to be mastered, which wants to say: there istill is a lack of volume and a balanced (falls raus: the) presence of a stereo sound.
9.SHORT TURBULENCE, long version (jazz, world music): Sound paradox and that is what it is. Details concerning the final mix have to be corrected. But the trip into mini worlds… well, who is ready to make them somehow falls into a stack to have a soft landing. (g: M. Stein, acc: F. Richter, cajon: M. Pollock, arr+prog: M. Stein) While making it I thought a bit of Joe Pass, but always with a respectful smile.
10. Excerpts from work on "LAGRIMAS" As the title promises, there is no complete track, only a part from this titles. A "New Year" gift to all friends of my music. This Title is based upon an old Latin-American folksong and therefore uses a lot of guitars, drums and vocals. That somehow already hints at what kind of music that will be and how I work up sound material. Meanwhile you may listen to the complete versions.

By the way: people in the streets often think I am Herbert Grönemeyer. But lastest when looking at my bank account you will regognize: I am myself. And: my music is completely different even though I appreciate his outstanding services in the field of German pop music such as Konstantin Wecker, Reinhard May, Marius Müller Westernhagen, Franz Josef Degenhardt, Udo Lindenberg, Stern Combo Meißen, Heinz Rudolph Kunze, Lift, Hermann van Veen, Andre Heller..........................
