Welcome to the first artist signing of Mason's Animal Language label. The fledgling imprint's eleventh release herald's a new dawn as Mason switch from artists to A&R executives in signing their first outside artist, fellow Dutch DJ and producer Nelsen Grover. 'Awake' is a bouncy and chunky slab of house with one of the mothers of all piano breaks that teases like a lap dancer before smacking you in the mouth with its huge breasted uplifting hook. If ever there was a tune made for peak time in a large muddy field or huge sunny beach party this is it. The word "Anthem" is banded around very easily these days, but "Awake" is a genuine contender. On remix duty there's a classy gang of producers all adding their personal touches to Nelsen's work. Another Dutch duo, TWR72, known as Roger and Tom to their mothers, bring an old school acid vibe to the party to great effect. These guys have been bigged-up by Erol Alkan as "one to watch" and this mix shows why. Keeping that piano hook in place and adding some 303 works for our listening pleasure! Next up comes Binman, a secretive studio animal with a much more schitzoid re-working. Using the basic progression he then takes things down a deep and jiggy route. It sounds like a groovy day out in a mental home. The Mason boys had to get behind their boy and throw in a remix of their own of course. Another teaser of a mix Iason and Coen slowly build up with another deep groove before unleashing the beast in the shape of that hook line. No Animal Language release would be complete without its requisite "Refurb". This time around its time for an Orchestral re-interpretation which is epic, tender and beautiful in equal parts. Time for some "air conducting"!!
