Motherjane is an icon in the Indian rock movement today, with both 'Maktub' and "Insane Biography" winning best album awards from Rolling Stones Magazine, Rock Street Journal & the Unwind Centre among others.
Their latest album, Maktub, features an unique sound that unapologetically mixes Indian musical styles, progressive rock structures & lyrical content that speaks of an inner reflection, contemplation and hope.
Popularly referred to as the band to put Indian rock on the world map, was first featured on Channel V,
in the series “V Out there”” in 1996 on its list of promising Indian bands.
The first Indian rock band to have an original from their album
featured on an international compilation album.The song “Soul
Corporations” from Motherjane’s album “Insane Biography”
features on the Japanese compilation album “Geki Teki Metal”
released by M & I Records in 2004, with Motherjane being
one among the only 3 Asian bands chosen for the compilation.
Performing professionally since 1996 till date, motherjane has virtually rocked all the great venues and festivals in
the country including GIR Bombay and Delhi, JRO – Chennai, IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Roorkee, IIT
Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, BITS Pilani, IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Bangalore, Pune Woodstock, Rock Ethos, East wind Festival, Rock In India
which are among the 300 odd shows the band has performed at.

There are around 49 countries in Asia. And there must be so many rock musicians and fans out there. I was just wondered that why they haven't performed on the same stage together ever? What about "We are the world"? I asked to myself 'Did we have any Asian musicians in that project?'
I've been playing rock music as a rock musician myself for many year in Korea. I'm dreaming about Asian Rock musicians get togther and perfom on the same stage. Wouldn't it be great? It won't happen over the night but if we get together and share ideas I'm sure will happen!
