There is always a lot going on in the world of Hyperrealist and usually our myspace account is the last to get updated. We're working now on getting photo albums of all the bands, releases and other fun things uploaded over the next few days as well as updates on tours, new releases and everything else thats in the works with regular updates to follow. After a summer of putting things on hold, we've got a lot planned for the end of the year and the first of next. There are many exciting things happening and it will all be posted here soon!

SKELETONWITCH added to the Hyperrealist roster!
Athens, Ohio's SKELETONWITCH are now ofifcially part of the Hyperrealist family. Having been long time friends and supporters of these guys, it only makes sense to work together. We have licensed the vinyl for their upcoming full length, "Beyond the Permafrost", from Prosthetic Records. Look for both the CD release on Prosthetic and the vinyl LP release from Hyperrealist on October 2. There will be color vinyl available, so keep your eyes open for details on that, as well as a full color poster insert of the cover art by artist John Baizley.
And don't forget! The Witch on tour with Municipal Waste in September!

Way overdue update!

Overdue update! Lots of new records.
There's not been a single update this whole year, so we're definitely long overdue. Things got a bit quiet here late last year with Baroness in Europe and the following holidays, but the Spring saw a lot of new recording and now summer is here and with it new tours and releases. The DAMAD retrospective CD is still in the works. That's been a slow project due to all of the art and liner notes involved and the seemingly endless task of acquiring and assembling it all. After taking this long to get it ready, I'm considering adding a little something to the package. Stay tuned for details on that. BLACK TUSK returned to the studio with Phillip Cope and have completed their full length LP/CD for Hyperrealist to be released in late summer. The first pressing of the CD format will also include a DVD with videos, a live set and photo gallery. I'm sure everyone has heard the news by now that BARONESS has signed to Relapse, who will be releasing their debut full length. Hyperrealist will be releasing a very limited vinyl version of this record about the same time the CD from Relapse drops in early September. These will be available mostly through the website and preorders, but the band will have some on the road with them as well. After these have sold, Relapse will take over vinyl pressing of the LP, but the packaging will be different so as not to confuse anyone. Watch the website for more details on how and when to order. My advice is to move quickly on it. We're going to make it really special. While on the subject of Baroness, the EPs will be out of print for a short while after the current pressings sell out. If you're still missing one of those, I would move on that pretty fast as well. More news on those at a later date. There are a couple of other new releases in the works for late summer and early fall - more on that in a few days. GET RAD have just released a new 7" on Level Plane and have two split 7"s on the way - one with Protestant and another with Call Me Lightning. Great stuff! Be sure and pick it up.
Tours! Black Tusk will be hitting the road twice this summer. First in July with Ohio's SKELETONWITCH, then again in September. BARONESS will be doing more U.S. dates in September followed by a second European tour in October. Dates for these tours will be posted as soon as I have them. GET RAD will be on the road for an east coast tour in a matter of days. Dates are posted now here and on the bands website (www.thunderinyourheart) and on their myspace page as well. More news soon... -
Hyperrealist welcomes GET RAD! DAMAD CD in the works!
Welcome GET RAD to the Hyperrealist family! They will begin work on their debut full length for Hyperrealist in just a matter of days. As if you couldn't guess, the name pretty much says it all. Drop by and pay them a visit at www.thunderinyourheart.com or www.myspace.com/getrad for more info, media and show dates.
This LP/CD is currently scheduled for a June release. Nothing says rad like the summertime.
Also currently in the works is a DAMAD CD. Really? A Damad CD? This CD compiles the sessions from the 7" released on Bacteria Sour, the "Centric" 7" released by Passive Fist / Clean Plate, some compilation songs and two live songs from CBGB - 11 songs total. This is the first time this material has been released on CD and, in my opinion, some of the best Damad songs ever recorded. After being out of print for many years, it will all be back on one disc with a new mastering job and a ton of art. These tracks are a trip back in time to the very origins of the nastiness and heaviness that has become Savannah's trademark sound. Look for this to be released sometime in the Spring.
