The Worldonfire

Following their critically acclaimed debut EP ‘Garden Cities of Tomorrow’, hotly tipped alt-rock quintet The Worldonfire re- released their debut album ‘…Live to Tell the Tale’ digitally for the first time on Dead Planet Records in February last year. Their second album ‘...Sail The Rough Sea’ recorded with the production expertise of Ant Chapman [Klaxons, Mclusky] and Oceansize vocalist / guitarist Mike Vennart, is the product of a hectic two-year schedule that commenced when The Worldonfire’s current line-up was solidified. Since then, they’ve headlined shows across the country [including 250-800 capacity gigs in the south-east], played with bands including Enter Shikari, Oceansize, Frank Turner, Good Shoes, Miocene, Fighting With Wire and Taking Back Sunday. The new album was mixed by legendary producer Chris Sheldon [Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro, Hell Is For Heroes, Radiohead] and is out now on Dead Planet Records, available on itunes [UK and US], Finetunes [Germany], EMusic, Amazon and Spotify.

Fighting Fiction

Jacob Glew – Vocals/Acoustic Guitar, Matt Roffe – Guitars/Bass/Backing Vocals, Andy Cooke - Guitars/Bass/Backing Vocals, Adam Wells - Drums/Percussion.

Fighting Fiction formed late 2007 in Bristol when the four lads met at University. Born of a mutual passion for energetic live performance, their sound is a powerful collision of Indie-rock guitar riffs, reggae tinged punk and socially aware lyrics. These are songs written with anger and sung with passion. The Bristol based four-piece evoke an honest and fundamentally English sound that is reminiscent of the brooding reggae guitar hooks of 'London Calling' era Clash, the lyrical wordplay and vocal delivery of Billy Bragg, and more recently, the acoustic guitar based sing-along sensibilities of Frank Turner and the King Blues.

They hit the road again this April, this time in support of a new single “We will not forget” to be released on Xtra Mile Recordings [Hundred Reasons, Reuben, Frank Turner, Chris T-T, The Xcerts, Crazy Arm]

“...their appeal is that what they articulate what a lot of people are thinking - the most obvious case being lead track 'A Lesser Of Two Evils', with its cutting "Red or blue both look the same/Choose what you disagree with less" and its crowd-friendly calls for change. And being crowd friendly is certainly something the band excels in, packing in singalong and call-and-response moments. Raucous and energetic, this is the stuff to lift the roofs off venues in a wash of raised beers and raised voices. Our personal favourite though is ‘Cameraphones And Choruses’, a side-splitting song for those annoyed by the YouTube brigade ("Could you really enjoy a song staring through a 2 inch screen/When you're really in the room when the band begins to sing?"). Naturally, the chorus is impossibly catchy.”

“A Lesser of Two Evils, the debut EP release from Bristol four-piece Fighting Fiction, sees the band coupling reggae-tinged guitar-punk, boisterous gang vocals and massive melodies to good effect. Meshing together the punk spirit of Billy Bragg with some delightfully British lines ("maybe I'm just having a shit day"), the four songs here showcase just enough bluster and promise through their bouncy rhythms and driven guitar lines. 'Sanctuary' and the title track are atypical 3rd gear guitar-punk, shredding their way through frontman Jacob Glew's damnations as to how one person can effect so many others; whilst the deliciously sarcastic 'Cameraphones and Choruses' sounds like a wrongly cast-off Sonic Boom Six B-side, bounding along on a thick ska-punk wave with a resounding fist in the air.”
