Hello Friends! Welcome to the Official Cleaning Crew For U Myspace! Are you looking for something more than a 9 to 5 job with minimum pay and/or benefits? Whether you want to work "for" someone else or own your own business....I would love to speak with you! In 1992, I started a professional cleaning service after only 9 months of working for someone else. Barely earning enough to feed my family, I decided one day to start MY OWN Residential & Commercial Cleaning Service = The Cleaning Crew. I would moonlight on weekends singing (weddings, receptions, private parties, conventions, etc) to supplement my income. My boss would keep me at arms length, never allowing me to grow or learn too much in fear I might branch out on my own, which is exactly what I did, but much sooner than I would have had I been treated better and/or respected as a human being. I made a promise to myself that when I owned my own business, I would do my best to help guide others starting out in life in the right direction. I always felt there will always be enough people in the world to hire, train & work without trying to hold others back or enslave them in any way simply so YOU can get ahead. I landed a few small commercial contracts before being insured until I could afford to shop several insurance companies in the state & get bonded. Clients I began by word of mouth, running a small local ad in a weekly shopper newspaper & printed up fryers to post at stores, gas stations, etc. Once I had a few clients under my belt, I came up with a list of cleaning duties that I would include in the bids. With Printed out cleaning duties & a price list scale, potential clients & business owners would have a layout right in front of them as I walked through local businesses mapping out the square footage for tile floor work & carpet cleaning as well as how many office spaces would need to be cleaned. Since I moonlighted as an entertainer on weekends, word traveled fast & most of the companies that contracted me out to maintain their floors, carpet & office space would book me to entertain for company picnics, banquets, fund raisers and all kinds of special events! Talk about a win/win! Since I performed "Tributes to Elvis" & was smack in the middle of Tupelo, Mississippi, I would leave my card saying "Elvis has cleaned the building" = It worked One thing I really appreciate about working in the commercial cleaning business is you have an opportunity to learn and/or be entertained as you work so each night I would slip on a pair of headphones & listen to "books on tape" while cleaning offices, stripping floors, waxing, buffing, taking out the trash, etc. Many times, I would go to the library & check out several sets of audio tapes which would enable me to learn & grow as I cleaned each night. I hired a few full-time employee's in 2000 and with the help of a few good friends, I was able to go on the road with my music. Touring, meet & greets, CD promotions and Promo became the norm in my world but I never gave up "The Cleaning Crew"! I'm here to tell you that you CAN have your cake and eat it too!
