i believed him when he swore that i was worth it

i believed him when he said hed cherish mine
i believed him when he told me i was beautiful

i believed him when he wiped my tears and told me its okay
i believed him when he held me close and said hed never let go

i believed him when he said " its a forever kinda thing"
i believed that my heart wouldnt break
i believed that i woud be happy forever
i believed that love had found me
i believed in him
i believed like such a naive little child
holding on to that tiny string of hope
i believed that love was enough
to keep me from drowning
to keep me from falling
to keep me from the hurt
i believed that it was okay to dream
to live and to love and be loved
i believed so much
that when it all came crashing down
i believed that things would get better
that the pain was worth it all
that the tears would soon stop
i believed in me
now that thread is thinning
about to snap for good
dropping me into reality
i fell in love with a dream
i fell in love with hope
i fell in love with something that doesnt exist
yet still i chose to smile through the tears
