OFF OF INTERSTATE 10, THIS HAVEN FOR THE APACHE INDIANS WAS THE PERFECT HIDEOUT FOR THIS NATIVE AMERICAN TRIBE. A NATIONAL PARK DEDICATED TO COCHISE MERITS YOUR ATTENTION. EVEN A "BED AND BREAKFAST" IS THERE IF YOU SO DESIRE. THERE ARE ENOUGH TRAILS AROUND THE "STRONGHOLD" TO HIKE THE SOLES RIGHT-OFF OF YOUR SHOES. Love, Sweet Joe

    The Apache people were nomads and lived in Arizona and New Mexico. The name comes from the Zuni word apachu (enemy). They moved in smaller groups or clans and lived in cabins made of earth and bushes, called wickyups. There were 6 main tribes: Jicarilla, Mescalero, Chiricahua, Mimbrenos, San Carlos and Coyotero.
