Anonamyss has been a force on the Canadian hip hop scene since his inaugural east coast tour with Maritime artists Spesh-K and Collizion in the summer of 2000. A chance visit to legendary Halifax DJ JoRuns studio in the late 1990s set Anonamyss on a path to motivate the masses through his music, and shine a spotlight on the many talented hip hop artists coming out of Canadas east coast...

 

My music is my life, says the Halifax MC. My life lessons. Everything Ive learned I try to translate that through my music.

 

Anonamyss was surrounded by music growing up. His father performed with a number of Canadian artists and groups, including the Stytch In Tyme, Everyday People, and Molly Oliver. Anonamyss interest in hip hop developed throughout his early teens. And inspired by the words and music of artists like Masta Ace, Nas, early Mobb Deep, Slick Rick, Kool G Rap, Anonamyss would soon put pen to paper, and the rest is history.

His flow is smooth, his lyrics personal, and his beats highly energetic. A gifted writer, producer, and performer, Anonamyss has shared the stage with some of Canadas most celebrated hip hop artists, performing alongside the likes of Classified, Kardinall Offishall, The Rascalz, RNB sensation Lamar Ashe, and many more...

Apart from performing and recording, Anonamyss is passionate about creating opportunities for local artists to display their talents. He established Muzikovermatter, a record company designed to promote homegrown hip hop. Muzikovermatter supports some of the brightest lights on the east coast urban music scene, and also put together and released hip hop outfit Mad Craz (Skoo Boy, Unknown, Short Shane, KnuckleHead). Anonamyss' aspirations around promoting local talent would later result in a 2005 compilation called The Brokin Tapes. The project saw Anonamyss collaborating with artists like Classified, Spesh-K, White Mic, Jorun, the Muzik Over Matter roster and many more. ..

Anonamyss continues to sharpen his skills as an MC and producer. His Debut Double CD (called "PARADOX") is slated for a September 2010 release and shows Anonamyss incorporating live musicians into his brand of music aswell as collaberating with some Legends of the hiphop world on a few songs. The album is a double CD and has 39 Unreleased songs from the last 9 years Featuring guest appearances from: Masta Ace, MC Eiht, Termanology, Medevil, Tha Boombap Saints & More. ..

With every album I'm coming up with a newer sound, says Anonamyss. Not just hip hop, but elements of reggae, funk & soul, rock & roll, and just everything. Lookout for new tracks and an updated site coming real soon...
