"Oort cloud" is the last (for this moment) single from the future, unreleased, in silico DUO's disc, "Solar system", as "Darkness in Neptune", "Overtura Bigbángica (Bigbang's Overture)", "Mercury", "Exequias para Plutón (The end of Pluto)", and others so.artistic
The Oort cloud is the cometary cloud situated a half light-year from the sun, surrounding our solar system, which mark the apparent limits of our planetary system. It's an extremely cold, lonely, dark and melancholic place. A nearly place but, at the same time, far away for us, a reflex of ourself. These are the reasons that leaded my inspiration to compose this song.
In the beginning, there is an audio fragment corresponding to the movie "Contact", a movie based in a novel of Carl Sagan (The Master), which matched perfectly with the idea of remoteness toward a distant place, as the Oort cloud is. If you listen this part with care, you should find that it begin with "Darkness in Neptune" in the background.
The drums were played and recorded by me in a curious and craft way. I used my Yamaha Stage Custom muted and only the PC microphone to recording it. After that, I strengthened the bass-drum bits and the cymbals with audio fragment selected from my wav's collection, but always taking care and respecting the real drum performance.
In addition, I used Arturia Moog for the most of tracks of this song. Really, its a great soft synthesizer!.
I want to dedicate this song to my MySpace friend, curiously called Oort.
The bass was performed and played by Gerardo Pastorino, a great musician and friend
