  • Half Seas Over

Thanks for the add! Half Seas Over is a brand new project from acclaimed pianist Elan Mehler and singer-songwriter Adam McBride-Smith. The two colloborated on Mehler's 2009 release, « The After Suite » (hailed by All About Jazz magazine as a « masterpiece with a capital M . ») Mehler and McBride-Smith are back with a new band and a batch of richly cinematic songs that draw as much on folk and rock music as on jazz. Half Seas Over's eponymous debut is due out on May 3rd, 2010 on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings label.

About me:

.. .. ex Mo'music

I assisted Toshi Yajima in 90's, the Japanese producer based in London.
Late 70's Toshi was a photo journalist , taking pictures and writting about music/ culture from London to Japan, probably as a photographer most renowned for SADE's 'PROMISE' album cover.

Toshi was also the pioneer in the Japanese club scene then, the first one who had brought UK's rare groove ~ the acid jazz scene for the attention of the Japanese public.
Also produced exhibitions in Japan for the artists such as Peter Saville( designed record covers for Roxy music, Peter Gabriel, New Order, etc) Juegen Teller ( photographer, the Face , i-D).

Organized Japanese tours for various UK artists, like Sade, Soul II Soul, BNHs, JTQ, Incognito, Ronny Jordan, Omar, Galliano,Corduroy, Mother Earth, Urban Species and many more.
He set up various licensing deal between Japanese record label and British label and artist including Mr.Weller and Acid Jazz label.

In 1993, He started his own label 'MO'MUSIC' distributed by Polystar JAPAN. Mo'Music had amazing artists ( I am very proud of it!) , He also had various radio programmes in Japan around that time, and coordinated UK's DJ's to broadcast in Japan too. Unfortunately sometimes ago 'mo'music' label had to go with various reasons which I don't know why as I left work by then, though I have a lots of good memory with good music and good artists when it's about.....

I myself not in a biz anymore but If you are the people who knows me or Toshi. give me a shout, it would be very nice. I'll pass the message him too.
